| Studio Baboo® We have a continually changing schedule of classes from basic bead stringing to off loom stitches to wire work. Nationally know instructors Jeannette Cook and Maggie Meister join us for special workshops every year. We stock a full selection of all types of beads, from our 20' wall of gemstones to our 20' wall of glass beads to our extensive selection of Japanese and Czech seed beads! Swarovski crystal, freshwater pearls, findings, books and tools round out our selection. Even though we are not yet “click and buy” for supplies, we offer “personal shopping service.” Tell us the book or magazine project you are working on or simply tell us your favorite colors and type of beads and we’ll put together a kit of beads just for you! We love to help them choose their beads, work out their designs, perfect their techniques and, best of all, see their finished projects. Studio Baboo® opened for business in 1998 in a 300 square foot boutique. That little store was located inside the Old Hardware Store building set in the historic downtown area of Charlottesville, Virginia. A popular destination for both tourists and locals, the Downtown Mall is an open-air pedestrian area lined with shops, bookstores and restaurants. We quickly outgrew what our customers fondly called “the bead closet.” Even though we are now in a much larger store, we strive to maintain that little store personality. Over the years we have watched our customer’s tastes change as fashion changes. To keep up with them, we stock a full selection of beads, from gemstones to glass beads to Japanese and Czech seed beads!
